Electrical / Electronics
Overview

The XA and XW series of Emergency Stop switches include a revolutionary new technology called "safe break action" that will change the way E-Stop switches are designed. This innovative concept provides greater levels of human safety and is the first of its kind in the world.

Conventional E-Stop switches are designed with spring pressure on the Normally Closed (NC) contacts, keeping them in the closed position and allowing the machine to operate. Improper installation or excessive force to the stop button in an emergency may break or dislodge a vital part, causing the spring loaded contact to stay closed. This situation renders the E-Stop incapable of stopping the machine and can lead to catastrophic events, personal injury and possible loss of life.

Key Features
  • IDEC's innovative "safe break action" ensures all NC contacts open if the contact block is separated from the operator
  • Pushlock turn reset and push-pull functions built into same unit
  • Direct opening action mechanism (IEC60947-5-5, 5.2, IEC60947-5-1, Annex K)
  • Safety lock mechanism (IEC60947-5-5, 6.2)
  • Degree of protection IP65 (IEC60529)
  • Solder or PCB terminal options
  • 40mm button size
  • UL recognized, c-UL approved, EN compliant

A choice of three terminal types from PC board, to .110" solder-tab / quick-connect, to screw terminals, the LW series has an answer for almost any application. A locking lever removable contact assembly makes wiring harnesses and PCB designs a breeze.

All switches mount on 1.0" centers. Models include illuminated and non-illuminated pushbuttons, pilot lights, selectors, and key switches. Contacts are available in SPDT, DPDT, or 3PDT with either pure silver or gold plated contacts.

IDEC now offers a new series of E-stops that provide an even higher level of function and safety to customers. These 30mm XN E-stops are the first and only with exciting, new technology to make machines even safer.

Features include our unique “Safe Break Action,” which ensures NC contacts will open if the contact block is damaged or seperated from the operator due to excessive force. Direct Opening Action ensures that even if the contacts are welded, the force applied on the button will directly open the contact. And a Safety Interlock Mechanism keeps contacts open when the operator is locked.

Inspired by the lockout concept, the new XN series of padlock-type E-stops were developed to prevent unauthorized or accidental resetting of latched emergency stop switches, by allowing the use of up to 20 personal padlocks*. XN1E series E-stops save space behind the panel with depths of only 47.7mm for up to four contacts. And XN5E series E-stops only extend 21mm from the front of the panel, ideal for applications needing a low-profi le design.
